Mathematics is everywhere. Naturally Learning students engage in real life mathematics and build a personal ‘math toolkit’. Learners identify strategies that work for them to get the real life math; level, squared, measured, cooked and recorded.
A student’s personal ‘math toolkit’ may include; times tables, using a ruler, using a calculator, using a thermometer, recognising and using symbols; -, +, x, km, ml & kg, reading scales, maps or graphs.
Lessons are focused to support individual student learning needs.
Understanding math language is critical to concept development and being able to complete bookwork. Students learn relevant math language to support the concepts and skills in their learning plan.
Every lesson includes multi sensory approaches, reflection, practise and feedback.
